In the 2023-2024 academic year I, among my classmates, founded a small press called Patchwork Press. I was involved with many aspects of the press such as planning the launch party, InDesign layout work, etc. but my main role was copyediting. We published 2 chapbooks, made a website, engaged with social media presence, and published excerpts from 2 runner ups. I worked on the editing and publication of both of our chapbooks but my main focus was on the chapbook pictured below, “Annihilation and Other Recipes with Oranges”.
I was also involved in the production of a hypothetical small press called Petulant Press in the 2023-2024 academic year. We created a mock up marketing strategy, launch schedule, and 2 books with comp titles named, “Pick Your Poison” and “Labrythine” with hypothetical authors. Both were works or ergodic fiction, and I was in marketing/sales for this hypothetical press. I created the marketing strategy, launch schedule, and researched actual indie bookstores that fit with our mission statement. The covers of both works are pictured below.
In the same academic year, I created a portfolio of marketing materials for a hypothetical business, this included a logo, newsletter, buisness card, letterhead, website, etc. I did all of this using Adobe InDesign, Adobe Ilustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. The business card and letterhead are pictured below.
