I am a huge book worm, my love for literature is what has lead me towards my current course studies and my current career path post grad. Some of my favorite authors are Emily Henry, Madeline Miller, and Ali Hazelwood. You might be able to guess from those names that my favorite genre is romantic literature. This is true however I fell in love with reading through dystopian titles such as the famous Hunger Games novels by Suzzanne Collins, the Divergent novels by Verionica Roth, the City of Ember novels by Jeanne DuPrau, etc. when I was in middle school. I also have a love for the classics, such as Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Little Women by Louisa May Allcot, and Pride and Predjudice by Jane Austen. I have currated quite a collection of not only dystopian and romantic novels but quite an expansive multitude of the “classics” or books that are consisdered “the greats of literature” cannon. Some of those works of literature were dense and dry, don’t get me wrong, however I felt it was my due diligence to be familar with each of these texts. In my opinion these genres are the bleeding heart of literature, in other words, these types of books really leave you with something. These are the books that you get sucked into because of how brilliantly the world building is written. They make you feel deep emotions and aren’t just surface level works for entertaiment as some of the other genres do such as fantasy novels. I pursue literature with the hope that it will impact me when I’m done reading it, not just something that passes the time.
